Meaningful architecture.

Loader Monteith aims to leave behind a legacy of buildings that improve our planet and enrich lives. That means following a process that’s sensitive to the environment they occupy. It means each design has its own unique narrative, telling a story through the built environment that weaves between aspiration, purpose, the surroundings and the people who interact with it.

They’re one of the first architecture studios we worked with – and the ones that made us think ‘huh, working with architects is really fun’. So much fun that we’re still working with them today.

Responsive to place, space and you.

Loader Monteith needed a brand and website that reflected who they are: architects designing at the crossroads of emotive impact and practical durability, always with a considered and sustainable approach.

During the web design phase of the project, architecture was turned on its head by the first 2020 lockdown. Luckily, designing with long-term usability in mind means preparing for changes of context.

Within months of launching, Loader Monteith saw web traffic double, an increase in enquiries and a raised profile among clients and peers – sustaining business during those turbulent times.

Since then, the practice has gotten busier year on year – consistently receiving new enquiries, and working on some really special projects (including the restoration of Bernat Klein’s home, High Sunderland).

Bringing you into the fold.

Working together, we found that Loader Monteith works in a similar way to Need – thorough, and personal. During a comprehensive analysis of the site, surroundings, local precedent, and nearby materials and buildings, they get to know the people they’re working with.

We did the same with them, gaining an understanding of their needs for a rebrand and new website – from self-sufficiency within design templates, to reiterating the firm’s thoughtful, modern approach through positioning.

An area where the team needed more hands-on support was in copywriting. You often see extremes of copy on architecture-based websites – either bogged down with unnecessary information, or so high level that it misses the mark. Early on in the process, we asked all the right questions to determine the content that would end up in Loader Monteith’s communications – as well as the tone in which it was written.

Sustainability in practice.

Bringing true value to our clients is central to our practice – and that value looks different to every organisation. Because self-sufficiency was a big driver in this rebrand, we developed tools and guidelines to aid the team – leading to consistent, successful and easy to manage communications. For more high level design needs, the team still comes to us – and it’s always a rewarding experience when they do.
