Supporting emerging creative practices.
For several years, Open Space promoted dialogue in the arts through an annual programme of projects in unexpected places
Set up by the extraordinary Huma Kabackı, the small, itinerant organisation worked with international, emerging and mid-career artists from all backgrounds to provide a diverse, collaborative, accessible programme.
After a number of successful years – including through lockdowns – Huma wound up the organisation to take on new challenges. Working with her and getting to be part of the ever-evolving organisation was a delight, and we can’t wait to see what she does next.
Art in unexpected places.
We started working with Open Space at the beginning of its journey. The team needed a brand, website, range of print and digital assets, and various communications to aid a strong, impactful launch.
Just over a year after that triumphant launch, the global pandemic hit. Because a huge part of Open Space involved hosting events and exhibitions in obscure, curious venues, the organisation had to adapt to continue – and fast.
Diverse, collaborative and accessible.
We continued to work with Huma and her team as she evolved the purpose of the organisation to suit what was needed – and it remained flexible until the end. From the original curatorial residency of Edible Goods, the restrictions of lockdown saw the likes of Writing Space, 10 Minute Interviews and Un/Learning Space form, grow and thrive.
Each new initiative had its own sub-brand, all in-keeping with the overall Open Space aesthetic. Huma’s ideas were not only practical, they were exciting, thought-provoking, and helpful to many.
Here for a good time, and a long time.
Working with Open Space over five years – growing and adapting alongside the organisation – was fulfilling and fun. Getting the chance to launch and continually progress and shape brands is one of the best parts of our job.
